International Scientific Conference

We are pleased to announce that the first international conference of the perceptions and receptions of Ancient History will take place in Zagreb (Croatia) from 3rd to 6th/7th November 2026. The conference will be organized by the Faculty of Croatian Studies (University of Zagreb), Archaeological Museum in Zagreb and the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Zagreb).

We would like to invite all scholars with interest in the research of various topics related to with the perception and reception of ancient history from prehistory to the late antiquity, from the medieval times to the modern era. The main topics of the conference will include:

  • Arts (architecture, sculpture, paintings, decorative arts, furniture)
  • Performing Arts (theatre, music, dance)
  • Music (classical music, pop/rock music etc.)
  • Popular Culture and Media (literature, comics, film, TV, video/computer games, fashion, photography)
  • Travel Culture and Heritage (travelling diaries, culture of travel, tourism, living history, museum and private collections, presentation of heritage)
  • Society and Politics (sport, pseudo-sciences, political propaganda)

Deadline for submission of abstracts 28th February 2026.

Notification of acceptance of your paper will be sent not later than 15th March 2026.

How to write abstract:

Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.

Abstract should be written at Times New Roman 12, space 1,5, justified.

Title (1st row), name and affiliation (2nd row) – both center. Below abstracts: 5-10 keywords.

Rođen sam u Zagrebu 1971. Diplomirao (1997.) i magistrirao (2001.) sam na Odsjeku za povijest Filozofskog fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Doktorirao sam na Odsjeku za informacijske znanosti Filozofskog fakulteta u Zagrebu interdisciplinarnim doktorskim radom s područja povijesti, arheologije i muzelogije - „Model računalne obrade i prezentacije staroegipatskih predmeta u muzejskim zbirkama u Hrvatskoj“ (2006.). Od 2005. do 2009. godine studirao sam egiptologiju na Sveučilištu u Manchesteru. Od lipnja 2000. do travnja 2011. radio sam na Odsjeku za povijest Filozofskog fakulteta u Zagrebu gdje sam od siječnja 2002. do listopada 2006. bio voditelj Kompjutorskog laboratorija. Od travnja 2011. radim na Odsjeku za povijest Fakulteta hrvatskih studija Sveučilišta u Zagrebu u znanstveno-nastavnom zvanju docenta (2011. - 2020) i izvanrednog profesora (2020. - ).
