We are pleased to announce that the Egypt and Austria XII conference will take place at Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia) in the week from Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd of September 2018. It will be organized by the Croatian Studies at the University of Zagreb and the Egypt and Austria Society. The conference board has chosen the following theme:

Central Europe, Egypt and the Orient: The Current Research

We would like to invite all scholars with interest in the ongoing research and studies of the interactions between the states of the former Habsburg Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire up to the 20th Century. The main themes will be: History of Egyptology and Oriental studies, travelers, history of collections, Egyptomania, art, music, philosophy, politics, economy and sciences, etc.

The conference will be structured by papers of 20 minutes with 10 minutes discussion for each. The official language of the conference will be English.

The registration fee includes: Conference materials, coffee breaks, conference dinner (last evening), guided tour around Zagreb (in English), free entry to museums in Zagreb (Archaeological Museum, Historical Museum of Croatia, Museum of the City Zagreb, Museum Mimara).

If you would like to present a paper please send your abstract by email mentioning the name of the author, the title of the paper, an abstract of c. 200 words and 3 keywords to ea12@egyptandaustria.at not later than March 31st 2018. Notification of acceptance will be end of April.

Rođen sam u Zagrebu 1971. Diplomirao (1997.) i magistrirao (2001.) sam na Odsjeku za povijest Filozofskog fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Doktorirao sam na Odsjeku za informacijske znanosti Filozofskog fakulteta u Zagrebu interdisciplinarnim doktorskim radom s područja povijesti, arheologije i muzelogije - „Model računalne obrade i prezentacije staroegipatskih predmeta u muzejskim zbirkama u Hrvatskoj“ (2006.). Od 2005. do 2009. godine studirao sam egiptologiju na Sveučilištu u Manchesteru. Od lipnja 2000. do travnja 2011. radio sam na Odsjeku za povijest Filozofskog fakulteta u Zagrebu gdje sam od siječnja 2002. do listopada 2006. bio voditelj Kompjutorskog laboratorija. Od travnja 2011. radim na Odsjeku za povijest Fakulteta hrvatskih studija Sveučilišta u Zagrebu u znanstveno-nastavnom zvanju docenta (2011. - 2020) i izvanrednog profesora (2020. - ).
